About two months ago the air conditioner of my 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse stopped running cold.
I went down to a local place here in Joshua TX. and had some Freon put in. It ran cold for a month then went hot again. Ouch, Ive got a freon leak. So, I let it go for about a month. I work at night and dont drive much during the day so that really wasnt a problem AT THE TIME. Not going on vacation and kid wasnt out for spring break yet.
Then on 6-30-11 it just got too hot outside and kid is out of school now. SO, I took the car up to the Mitsubishi dealership in Weatherford TX. to get it fixed. Ive got an extended warranty on the car so this is great right..not hardly.
I took it in, Thomas, the young man at front desk said it'd be AT LEAST a two hour wait but they get it fixed. SO, my child and I brought our playing cards and passed the two hours + playing cards in their waiting area. After TWO HOURS the car was ready. Thomas said a seal to a hose was split so they replaced it. My deductible is $100.00. My bill was $89.00. SO I paid it and away me and the kid went.
On the fourth of July, a monday. The air conditioner didnt seem to be getting as cold as it had. I thought that maybe it was just because I was driving during the day and it was 100 degrees so it just didnt seem as cold. Sure enough that night the air conditioning really wasnt as cold as it had been. By that friday it was all out of freon AGAIN!
So I called Thomas at the Mitsubishi dealership back and told him it was out of freon again. I asked him straight off if I would have to pay more money seeing how it is they didnt fix the air conditioning when I was up there. I was nice about it but Sheesh, I was there two hours, I would of thought would of fixed it then.
Thomas said, that something else must of went wrong with the air conditioning since I had brought it in and that they werent responsible for that. I asked him what he thought the odds were that somehow of all the things that could possibly go wrong with a cars a/c unit that was just supposedly fixed has broken AGAIN after having just been FIXED 11 days ago!!!!!
Thomas said that when I left the dealership the problem with my a/c unit was fixed.
I told him if it had been fixed that my a/c would still be blowing cold air.
He said that there would be a charge for them to fix what was wrong with it now because they had fixed it 11 days ago. I said so theoretically you could keep charging me to fix it and not necessarily use my extended coverage insurance if the repair wasnt over $100.00?
I leave the dealership, it breaks again in 11 days and when I bring it back your gonna charge me again because the car was fixed the last time ya'll worked worked on it? He said YES!
UNBELIEVEABLE!!!!.
I told him I wanted to speak to his boss. So, Kevin got on the phone. He said that they would look at the car and try to use my insurance and eat the deductible. He repeated several times in a stern voice that "I just needed to get the car back into them".
All that sounds great but after my conversation with Thomas Im not letting them within 10 feet of my car that I love and why is Kevin using that tone with me.
I might be blonde and easy to deal with but I know a rip off when I see one and this one in my opinion is just what they were fixing to do to me. I mean they already got $89.00 out of me.
So yesterday 7-13-11 I took my car to the Mitsubishi dealership up in N. Richland hills. In less than ONE HOUR they told me what was wrong with my car. A hole in the condenser!
Imagine that! The a/c leaked after the first time of my having put freon in it for a month. The next time, after the Mitsubishi in Weatherford worked on it is leaked for about a week and now come to find out theres a hole in the condenser.
Nathan, the man at the service desk called my insurance, approved the repair, called Enterprise and had them come pick us up for a rental for the day while they fixed my car.
Nathan at the N. Richland hills Mitsubishi and the mechanic who found the CURRENT problem right off is what a service department is suppose to be..about service done right THE FIRST TIME.
Beware of who you let work on your car, especially if your a woman.
